MARKETING THAT MORPHS: LEVERAGING DIGITAL TOOLS TO EXPERTLY PROMOTE CONTENT

Today’s digital landscape has unleashed tremendous opportunity for the independent content creator, allowing storytellers to directly connect with audiences in real time, and with an unprecedented level of depth and engagement.  Rather than relying on third party entities and individuals to spread the gospel about their completed film or web series, content creators have been empowered to control their own destiny through digital marketing.  Digital innovation enables filmmakers to nimbly watch and react to their target audiences in the moment, versus taking a “fingers crossed” stance with hopes that the original marketing plan works.  This session will share insights on the various strategies and tools available for promoting content to both broad and niche consumer audiences.  With limited dollars typically available to support multicultural themed films, it’s critical that content creators understand how to successfully package their project’s marketability, as well as how best to navigate advancing their project in unconventional ways.  A panel of experts will discuss how social media and digital platforms, such as Google Analytics, can help content creators develop, track, and execute effective marketing plans around their projects, while remaining targeted in their approach.

Panelists:

Alvin Bowles, CEO, Grab TV Networks (moderator)

Moikgantsi Kgama, Partner, ImageNation

Dana Offenbach - Producer (Mooz-lum, Hav Plenty)

Smokey Fontaine, Chief Content Officer, Interactive One

Peter Bowen, Editiorial Director, Focus Features and FocusFeatures.com
